Air Ambulance Touches Down After Lidl Car Park Crash
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance swooped into Milton Park today (Wednesday, May 16) following a crash outside Lidl in Portsmouth.
Onboard doctors rushed to treat a woman in her 50s who was hit by a car in the busy store’s car park.
Emergency Crews Flood the Scene
- Two ambulances from South Central Ambulance Service arrived fast on Goldsmith Avenue.
- Hampshire Police officers were quickly dispatched.
- Two fire appliances from Hampshire Fire and Rescue team also attended the incident.
Serious Injuries and Hospital Transfers
A South Central Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a 999 call at 11.21am reporting a collision between a pedestrian and a car in Lidl’s car park. We sent two ambulances and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
The pedestrian, a woman in her mid-50s, sustained serious injuries and has been taken to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Southampton by road, with the air ambulance crew travelling with her.
The driver of the car is also being taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital for assessment.”
Traffic and shoppers were left shaken as emergency services rushed to the scene. More updates to follow.
