Woman Injured After Ambulance Crashes on Busy Southampton Road
Ambulance Answering 999 Call Involved in Serious Collision
A woman suffered injuries and was rushed to hospital after an ambulance responding to a 999 emergency call collided with two vehicles on a busy Southampton road. The crash happened on Oakley Road just after 9:20pm, bringing traffic to a standstill and emergency crews scrambling to the scene.
Firefighters Slice Open Flipped Car to Rescue Trapped Couple
Police from the Roads Policing Unit at Totton quickly closed Oakley Road while firefighters from Redbridge, St Mary’s, and Cosham worked to free the trapped driver and passenger of one vehicle, a Skoda Scout, which had flipped onto its side. Using a reciprocating saw, crews cut open the roof, allowing them to rescue the couple inside.
Injured Woman Taken to Southampton General
The injured woman was immediately rushed to Southampton General Hospital. A second vehicle involved was a red Skoda, whose female driver in her 40s was left shaken but unharmed.
The crash left debris scattered across the road and significant damage to all vehicles involved.
