Emmerdale Star Sam Gannon Dies Suddenly in California
Sam Gannon, 31, known for playing Kev the coachman in Emmerdale, has tragically died while visiting family in Willows, California. Authorities have confirmed his death is not being treated as suspicious.
Remembering Sam: A Yorkshire Gem
Sam’s sister, Amy Kelly from Howden, called him “a whirlwind, a unique character.” She added, “He genuinely cared for others and was a very sensitive soul.”
Sam grew up in Brayton, near Selby, North Yorkshire. Before his TV break, he was a proud member of the Northumberland Theatre Company. The group paid tribute on social media:
“He delighted audiences with his charm, wit, and wonderful musical abilities. Sam was like a human Duracell bunny – bursting with energy and overflowing with creative ideas. A pain sometimes, but absolutely fantastic on stage.”
Friends and colleagues remember Sam as “a truly lovely young man, a wonderful human being, and a good friend to many.”
Fundraising to Bring Sam Home
A JustGiving campaign was launched to cover Sam’s repatriation and funeral expenses. Jonathan Kelly, who started the appeal, said:
“Sam was a true performer. Any extra funds raised will go to a UK charity supporting youth theatre – a cause very close to Sam’s heart.”
Amy is also exploring plans to set up a foundation in Sam’s name to help others in similar circumstances who need additional support.
