A brazen robber who punched a security guard and spat at a police officer has landed behind bars. Lee Egege, 39, went on a lawless spree across two West Bromwich stores in January.

Two Store Thefts in a Week

On 19 January, Egege targeted a shop on Reservoir Road, stealing multiple items. Just a week later, on 26 January, he struck again at a store in Astle Park.

He casually let the worker scan his goods, then tried to bolt with the bag. A security guard stepped in to stop him, but Egege responded with a punch to the face.

Spitting at Pthe olice Lands Him More Trouble

Police soon arrived and detained Egege, who then spat at an officer during arrest. Thanks to sharp CCTV footage from both robberies, the thug was quickly identified and charged.

  • Two counts of shop theft
  • Common assault
  • Assaulting a constable

The 39-year-old, with no fixed address, appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court. He was handed an 18-week prison sentence for his violent crime spree.
