Sparkly Clean for the Queen

Test Valley Borough Council worked with a variety of volunteers and community groups across the borough to clear almost 200 bags of rubbish, half a tonne of green waste and half a tonne of fly-tipped waste during the recent Clean for the Queen event. The event, launched by Keep Britain Tidy and Country Life magazine, took place from the 4 to 6 March and saw 250,000 people across the country take part in a nationwide litter pick in honour of Her Majesty’s 90th birthday. In Test Valley, residents, councillors and volunteers from local organisations spent the weekend helping to litter pick in areas including Romsey, Andover town centre, Wellow, Ampfield and Picket Twenty. The Council provided litter picking equipment and collected and disposed of the waste. Environmental Portfolio Holder, Councillor Graham Stallard, said: “I was so pleased to see so many people helping with the litter pick. There was a great atmosphere and everyone seemed to have fun taking part. I hope we did Her Majesty proud.”
