Violent Moped Robbery Shocks Southampton Late at Night

Police are hunting two thugs after a man was attacked and robbed in Southampton. The 22-year-old victim was confronted by a pair of men on a moped in Montague Avenue, Bitterne, between 11.35pm and 11.45pm on Friday 4 August.

Attack Follows Refused Cigarette Request

The pillion passenger, wearing a crash helmet, asked the victim for a cigarette. When the request was declined, the passenger struck the man across the head with a bat. Meanwhile, the rider – face covered but without a crash helmet – waited on the blue and white moped.

Bag Stolen in Broad Nighttime Robbery

The attackers snatched the victim’s grey Adidas man-bag containing cash, keys, and personal items before speeding off. The victim was rushed to Southampton General Hospital with a head injury but has since been discharged.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

“Were you in the Montague Avenue area late on the night of 4 August? Did you spot two people on a blue and white moped, possibly with a grey Adidas bag? We want to hear from you,” said Detective Constable Donna McKay.

“Pedestrians should stay alert if approached by a moped with two riders.”
