Coastguard rescue helicopter called to Selsey Bill to rescue two from liftraft

The coastguard rescue helicopter has been called to Selsey Bill this lunchtime following a Mayday call. A major rescue operation is taking place off in the middle of the English Channel seven miles off Selsey Bill invoking the rescue helicopter and a lifeboat. The rescue was sparked after two people became seriously injured whilst onboard their vessel. Two persons onboard aboard abandoned the boat and used a life raft after a boat is understood to have caught fire. The Lee on Solent based rescue helicopter was scrambled just after 1.20pm on Tuesday afternoon. The RNLI Selsey lifeboat has also been ordered to launched by the UK coastguard to the incident that near to Selsey Bill lighthouse. More to follow
