Late-Night Smash Shuts Down Key Dorset Roads
Just after 10pm on Saturday, July 9, chaos erupted on Littlemoor Road near Chalbury Close. A bronze Honda Civic crashed into a marked police car responding to a nearby 999 emergency. The collision sparked a major emergency response.
Ambulances, including an air ambulance, plus fire crews rushed to the scene. Authorities closed roads between the Chalbury roundabout and Dorchester Road, along with Louviers Road at its junction with Littlemoor. The streets remained shut overnight for a full investigation.
Family and Officers Hurt but No Serious Injuries
- The Honda carried a man and woman in their 30s plus two young kids, aged 18 months and 3 years.
- All were checked on site before being taken to Dorset County Hospital.
- The driver and kids suffered minor injuries.
- The woman had a non-life-threatening head injury.
- Two police officers in the car were also hospitalised with minor injuries.
No arrests have been made and the full circumstances remain under investigation.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“A full investigation into this incident is underway to establish the circumstances of this collision,” said traffic unit Sergeant Sarah Jones.
“Anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam or CCTV footage that hasn’t yet been shared is urged to contact Dorset Police.”
“Finally, I’d like to thank motorists for their patience while the road closure was in place.”
The road reopened Sunday morning shortly after 9.35am, but the inquiry continues.
