Huge Blaze Destroys Garden Sheds on Hereford Road
A fierce fire tore through trees, hedgerows, shrubs, and decking behind a row of homes on Hereford Road. The blaze completely destroyed one garden shed and damaged 15 more. Several properties suffered minor damage to windows, patio doors, and guttering. Thankfully, no one was injured.
Emergency Crews Battle Blaze in Sweltering Heat
Firefighters scrambled to tackle the fire, working in tough conditions. Station Commander Tamer Ozdemir praised their efforts. “Firefighters worked incredibly hard in hot, arduous conditions to stop the blaze from spreading to nearby properties,” he said. Their quick action saved around 30 homes.
60 Residents Evacuated as Fire Raged
The thick smoke forced the evacuation of about 60 residents. Fire crews also removed several gas cylinders to prevent dangerous explosions. A drone team helped spot hidden hot spots in the surrounding woodland to bring the fire under control.
Firefighters Respond to 44 Emergency Calls
- The brigade arrived at 4:35pm, finally extinguishing the fire by 9:11pm.
- Units from Hillingdon, Kingston, Southall, Surbiton, Tooting, and neighbouring stations battled the blaze.
- The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
