The 83-year-old victim was approached by two men who claimed they needed to do work on her home in Nottingham’s Beechdale neighbourhood. Investigations revealed that she was later forced to sign a cheque for thousands of pounds on August 8, 2022, and again on October 19, 2022, as well as harassed on numerous occasions. James Cunningham, of Coventry Road, Bedworth, Warwickshire, was apprehended on 10 January 2023 after attempting to elude police and fleeing the county the previous year. Cunningham, 38, was charged with robbery, fraud by false representation, and five counts of concealing, converting, removing, or removing criminal property when he appeared in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (12 January). He was remanded in custody and will appear in Nottingham Crown Court on February 9th. Previously, a 53-year-old man was charged with robbery, burglary with intent, burglary, attempted burglary, fraud by false representation, and possession or control of criminal property. On December 19, 2022, suspect Charlie Lee, of Mile Tree Lane, Coventry, Warwickshire, appeared in Nottingham Crown Court and pleaded guilty. He was remanded in custody pending the outcome of the case. This has been a complex investigation for everyone involved,” Nottinghamshire Police Detective Inspector Chris Berryman said. Cunningham was arrested only days ago and thanks to the great work by officers we were able to charge him in relation to these offences quickly and put him before the courts. Our investigation into this case continues, and we are determined to bring justice to the victim.
