Bradford Man Jailed for Grooming and Abuse of Teen Girl
Komar Mardan, 36, of Cecil Avenue, was found guilty at Bradford Crown Court on 15 April for sexually abusing a teenage girl. The victim, who came forward at age 17, revealed that Mardan supplied her with alcohol and cigarettes before abusing her. He then threatened to expose her to her friends if she didn’t comply.
Attempt to Silence Victim Backfires
While awaiting trial, Mardan enlisted a friend, 21-year-old Hamaad Nasser from Bargrange Avenue, to bribe the victim into withholding evidence. Nasser admitted to perverting the course of justice.
Harsh Sentences Handed Down
- Mardan was sentenced to 11 years in prison: 10 years for sexual activity with a child, plus one year for attempting to pervert justice.
- Nasser received a 12-month sentence for his role in the scandal.
- Mardan was also slapped with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a Restraining Order.
Detective Speaks Out on Case
Detective Constable Polly Churchman, Bradford District Child Vulnerable Exploitation Team, said:
“I welcome the sentence handed down today. Mardan groomed and abused a vulnerable girl. He stole her teenage years, and she never felt safe, always looking over her shoulder.
I hope this sentence brings her some comfort and closure, and that she finds the courage to rebuild her life.
