England’s Longest Coast Path Opens in Yorkshire
A stunning new 208-mile trail has just launched from Bridlington to Bamburgh, Northumberland. It’s the longest continuous stretch of the England Coast Path ever opened, promising walkers an unforgettable coastal adventure.
Yorkshire Coast Path Expanded by 21 Miles
Today marks the opening of a fresh 21-mile stretch between Bridlington’s Wilsthorpe and Filey Brigg. This boost completes 50 miles of official coastal path in Yorkshire alone, making it easier than ever to explore the region’s breathtaking seaside.
The newly opened section guides walkers through picturesque spots like 123 Gill and Reighton before reaching the peaceful Filey Country Park. Along the way, hikers will pass Sewerby Hall, an exquisite Grade I listed Georgian country house.
King Charles III England Coast Path: A Royal Tribute
This newly opened coast path forms part of the government’s ambition for every UK household to be within a 15-minute walk of green spaces or water. The King Charles III England Coast Path launch is a fitting tribute following the celebrations of His Majesty’s Coronation this year.
Patrick Wharam, Countryside Access Manager for East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:
“We are thrilled to unveil the first section of the new National Trail, linking North and East Yorkshire with the King Charles III England Coast Path.
Thanks to improvements funded by Natural England, this path meets National Trail standards, focusing on accessibility and sustainability. Walking is a weather-proof activity that extends the tourism season year-round.
The new trail will attract both domestic and international visitors eager to experience our natural beauty, heritage, and culture. It will also enhance the walking experience for locals who already love the route.
The England Coast Path will boost local communities by bringing in new visitors and linking coastal towns with walkable routes.”
