Israel’s planned ground assault on Gaza has been put on ice — at least for now. According to Israeli media outlet Walla, the much-anticipated invasion is postponed to an “unknown date” and expected only after US President Joe Biden leaves the region.
Top Hamas Commander Killed in Israeli Airstrike
Amid the delay, Hamas confirmed the death of a senior commander in an Israeli airstrike. Ayman Nofal, a key figure in Hamas’ military council and leader of the Central Brigade in the al-Qassam Brigades, was killed in a strike targeting the Bureij refugee camp.
Hamas called the attack a “barbaric Zionist bombing” in a Telegram statement.
Water Crisis Worsens in Gaza – UK Demands Israel Act
The humanitarian situation is spiralling out of control as Gaza faces a dire water shortage. The UK has urged Israel to allow water supplies into the territory, warning of a looming catastrophe.
- Water taps have run dry.

- Medical supplies and fuel remain blocked.
The UK government is in talks with Israel, pushing for compliance with international law amid these worsening conditions. Israel insists it will maintain its blockade until all hostages held by Hamas are freed.
Gaza Faces Devastation as Hundreds Trapped Under Rubble
Health officials estimate around 1,200 people, including 500 children, are trapped beneath collapsed buildings after recent bombardments. Shifa Hospital director Mohammed Abu Selmia revealed medics are overwhelmed and lack the infrastructure to respond effectively.
Residents like Ali Ahad have taken on the grim task of digging through rubble, using blankets to pull out the injured. But efforts are hampered by ongoing destruction and scarce resources.

On the Israel-Lebanon border, fierce exchanges have escalated. The Red Cross collected four bodies in the southern town of Alma al-Shaab, though their identities remain unclear.
Tragically, Reuters videographer Issam Abdallah lost his life near Alma al-Shaab during an Israeli strike. Several journalists, including two from Al Jazeera, were also injured in the attack.

King Abdullah of Jordan, speaking alongside German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin, warned his country will not accept Palestinian refugees. He called any such move a “red line” for Jordan and Egypt, urging the international community to address Gaza’s crisis within its own borders.
“There will be no refugee influx in Jordan or Egypt,” Abdullah stressed, voicing concerns over attempts to alter realities on the ground.
