Metropolitan Police Detectives are urgently seeking information from the public after a man was discovered injured at his residence in Waltham Forest. Tragically, the victim passed away, and authorities are urging any potential witnesses to come forward.
The incident unfolded on Monday, October 16th, when police received reports of two individuals suspected of breaking into cars on Boundary Lane, E13, at approximately 4.45am
Responding promptly to the call, officers detained a 25-year-old man who was found in possession of a car key registered to an address on Matcham Road, E11, located less than four miles away. Upon arriving at the Matcham Road address, law enforcement made a grim discovery—an injured 68-year-old man. In critical condition, the victim was promptly transported to the hospital by the London Ambulance Service. Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Thursday, October 26th. The deceased has been identified as Evaldas Simanaitis, and his family has been informed of the heartbreaking news.
An immediate investigation was launched, and detectives from the Specialist Crime Command meticulously reviewed CCTV footage from the local area. The footage uncovered a crucial piece of information—the victim had been outside his residence at around 04:00 and had an encounter with two males. During the confrontation, one of the individuals physically assaulted him, causing him to fall to the ground.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellam, who leads the investigation from the Specialist Crime Command, emphasized the importance of determining the events leading up to the tragic incident. He urged anyone who possesses information or possesses CCTV or doorbell camera footage to come forward. Public cooperation is vital in identifying the second individual who was present during the incident.
Chief Superintendent Simon Crick, overseeing the North East Basic Command Unit, reassured the community that authorities are tirelessly working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
