Man Found Critically Injured at Home Dies After Early Morning Attack
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police are hunting for witnesses after a 68-year-old man was found injured at his Waltham Forest home and later died. Authorities say public help is crucial to cracking the case.
Car Break-In Leads to Tragic Assault
The drama began in the pre-dawn hours of Monday, October 16, when police got reports of two men breaking into cars on Boundary Lane, E13, around 4:45 am. Officers quickly caught a 25-year-old man caught with a car key linked to a nearby address on Matcham Road, E11.
Following the arrest, police rushed to the Matcham Road property where they found the elderly victim badly injured. He was rushed to hospital by the London Ambulance Service but sadly died in the early hours of Thursday, October 26. The man has been named as Evaldas Simanaitis. His family have been informed.
CCTV Reveals Chilling Details of the Attack
Specialist Crime Command detectives dug deep, reviewing CCTV that showed the victim outside his home at around 4 am confronting two men. One attacked him, causing him to fall. Police are desperate to identify the second suspect still at large.
“It’s essential to understand exactly what happened that morning,” said Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellam, leading the inquiry. “Anyone with information or who has CCTV or doorbell footage needs to come forward.”
Police Urge Community to Speak Up
Chief Superintendent Simon Crick, head of the North East Basic Command Unit, promised the police are working tirelessly. He urged concerned locals to speak with officers, assuring them their worries will be heard and acted upon.
