Radio 1’s Big Weekend Experience Hits Dundee!
Radio 1 is bringing the buzz of its Big Weekend straight back to Dundee – but this time, it’s an exhibition! The first-ever Big Weekend Experience will run at V&A Dundee from Friday 1 December to 7 January 2024.

The exhibition dives deep into the highlights of Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2023 in Dundee. Expect a treasure trove of festival memorabilia, photos, and unique items donated by local community groups, partners, performers, and Radio 1 fans. It’s a chance to soak up the spirit of the event all over again.
Virtual Fun and Audio Guides with Radio 1 Stars
Can’t make it in person? No worries! In partnership with V&A Dundee’s Learning Team, there’s a virtual version of the exhibition online. Plus, grab an exclusive audio guide hosted by Radio 1 favourites Greg James and Arielle Free, streaming on BBC Sounds from 1 December.
To kick things off, Arielle Free will broadcast live from Dundee on Monday 27 November – a perfect teaser for what’s to come!
Big Names Praise the Big Weekend Legacy

A Free Festival Fix as V&A Dundee Celebrates Five Years
The Radio 1 Big Weekend Experience is free to visit and promises a memorable dose of nostalgia and fun. It also marks the conclusion of V&A Dundee’s 5th birthday celebrations, giving fans a last chance to relive the magic of one of the UK’s biggest music festivals right in their city.
This exhibition is part of the BBC’s wider plan to get closer to audiences across the UK, with Radio 1 broadcasting seven days a week from Salford and launching new shows from Cardiff.
