Dewsbury Man Jailed for Brutal Daylight Attack in Batley
Krisztian Glonczi, 23, from Kilpin Hill Lane, Dewsbury, was locked up for five years and three months at Leeds Crown Court today. He pleaded guilty to attempted rape and theft offences on Taylor Street, Batley, which happened on September 11.
Victim Fights Off Attack in Wooded Area
Police were called that afternoon following reports of an attempted rape of a woman in her 20s in a nearby wooded area. The victim bravely fought off Glonczi, who had forced her to the ground. After failing to complete the attack, he fled, stealing some of her belongings but later discarding them nearby.
Stalking and Failed Escape Bid
Glonczi was identified thanks to a HMET detective who spotted him walking local roads and recognised him from CCTV footage. He was quickly arrested. He was not previously known to the police. Further investigation revealed he had stalked his victim beforehand. Glonczi even tried to flee the country during the investigation but was stopped after losing his passport.
Detective Calls Glonczi ‘Dangerous Sexual Predator’
Detective Inspector Guy Shackleton said:
“Krisztian Glonczi is a dangerous sexual predator who stalked his victim before attacking her in broad daylight.
“The victim showed real courage in fighting him off and reporting the attack.
“Her bravery helped officers swiftly launch a full investigation and identify Glonczi – a first-time offender unknown to police.”
“Sexual offence reports are treated with the utmost seriousness. The most serious cases, like this, are handled by the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
“We urge all victims to come forward so we can properly investigate and provide necessary support.”
