No Injuries Reported as Crews Tackle Blaze
Kent Fire and Rescue Service swiftly responded to reports of a fire at a residence on The Rocks Road in East Malling. The incident, that occurred on Friday, March 29, 2024, saw firefighters mobilized to address a blaze that ignited in the roof space of a ground-floor extension.
Upon arrival at the scene, four fire engines were deployed, equipped with personnel wearing breathing apparatus. The crews utilized high-pressure hose reel jets and other firefighting equipment to cut away material from the roof, thereby gaining access to and extinguishing the flames.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries resulting from the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated while workers were utilising a heat gun to install new felt on the roof.
The prompt response and coordinated efforts of the firefighters ensured that the situation was swiftly brought under control, mitigating potential damage and preventing harm to individuals.
Authorities urge caution and adherence to safety protocols when undertaking any construction or renovation work involving heat sources to minimize the risk of such incidents occurring in the future.
