Body Found in Sea Off Shanklin on Quiet Sunday Morning
Emergency Rush to Shanklin Seafront
A grim discovery unfolded this Sunday morning as a body was pulled from the sea near Shanklin’s Esplanade. Emergency services were called at 9:40 AM following reports of someone in the water.
HM Coastguard quickly launched Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat and scrambled the Coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter from Lee-on-Solent. Local teams from Bembridge and Ventnor joined the desperate search, with Isle of Wight Police also rushing to the scene at the far end of Shanklin seafront.
Tragic Rescue Efforts End in Heartbreak
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service deployed an ambulance crew, a critical care paramedic, and an operational commander to the site. Despite their best efforts, the individual was recovered from the water and sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Underway as Community Mourns
Newport CID detectives arrived to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. The Coastguard has cordoned off part of the beach as inquiries continue. The cause remains unclear, with more details expected as the probe develops.
