Fatal Crash in Newham: Police Hunt Witnesses
Detectives are on the lookout for witnesses and any dashcam footage after a deadly crash on Barking Road, Newham. The tragedy struck at around 3.44pm on Tuesday, 15 October.
Young Woman Killed in Collision
Emergency teams rushed to the scene where a Nissan Juke had smashed into an 18-year-old female pedestrian and another vehicle. Despite frantic efforts, the young woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers.
Driver Arrested Over Death by Dangerous Driving
The 45-year-old Nissan driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. After receiving treatment at a nearby hospital, he was taken into police custody and remains there now.
Road Reopened but Police Still Investigating
Authorities put up cordons and road closures shortly after the crash, but these have since been lifted. The area is now open to traffic, though the investigation continues.
