Stalker Jailed After Campaign of Abuse Against Former Partner

A man from East Farleigh has been sentenced to 15 months in prison after subjecting his former partner to a disturbing campaign of abuse, threats, and harassment. Alwyn Tuttiett, 47, repeatedly harassed his ex-partner following the end of their relationship in October 2023, culminating in a violent confrontation in which he spat in her face in front of her child.

Tuttiett’s campaign of intimidation began shortly after the breakup and escalated over several months. He relentlessly contacted his victim through phone calls, emails, and social media, leaving her terrified for her safety. In one week alone, he called her 134 times, often leaving degrading and explicit voicemails. When the victim blocked all forms of communication, Tuttiett began spreading harmful accusations on her friends’ social media pages, damaging her reputation and affecting her business.

The harassment reached a peak on February 6, 2024, when Tuttiett confronted his former partner at her home. In a rage, he shouted and spat in her face, an act witnessed by her child. Police arrested him later that month and imposed strict bail conditions. Despite these restrictions, Tuttiett continued his campaign of harassment and intimidation, leading to a second arrest in June.

Appearing at Maidstone Crown Court, Tuttiett pleaded guilty to stalking involving serious alarm or distress. A further charge of assault by beating was ordered to lie on file. Alongside his 15-month prison sentence, he was issued a five-year restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the victim.

Detective Constable Josh Barkaway, who led the investigation, condemned Tuttiett’s actions, stating: “Tuttiett subjected his victim to repeated and appalling psychological abuse. He made countless phone calls and sent unwanted texts and social media messages to her, leaving her in constant fear and forcing her to change her daily routines. The harassment was relentless and has caused his victim a huge amount of distress and anxiety.”

The detective also praised the victim’s bravery in coming forward and reminded the public of available support resources for anyone experiencing similar abuse.
