M25 Closure in Place as Junction 10 Upgrade Works Progress

Major Weekend Closure Underway as Part of £317 Million Project

A full weekend closure of the M25 between Junction 10 (Wisley) and Junction 11 (Chertsey) is now in place and running smoothly, as part of the ongoing M25 Junction 10 improvement project.

The closure, which began at 9pm on Friday, 7 March, will remain in effect until 6am on Monday, 10 March, to allow for bridge demolition work.

Project Overview

The £317 million upgrade, which started in Summer 2022 and is set for completion in Spring 2026, aims to:

  • Reduce congestion at the Wisley Interchange (Junction 10)
  • Improve safety for drivers
  • Create more reliable journeys
  • Restore heathland in the surrounding area

Diversions and Travel Advice

Drivers are advised to avoid the closure where possible, but for those who must travel, a diversion route has been implemented:

Clockwise (Junction 10 to Junction 11)

  • Exit the M25 at Junction 10 and take the A3 northbound
  • At Painshill, follow the A245 and A320
  • Rejoin the M25 at Junction 11

Anticlockwise (Junction 11 to Junction 10)

  • Exit the M25 at Junction 11 and take the A320 southbound
  • Continue onto the A245 to Painshill
  • Take the A3 southbound to rejoin the M25 at Junction 10

For longer journeys, drivers may find it quicker to use the Dartford Crossing to bypass the closure entirely.

Future Planned Closures

Additional full weekend closures are scheduled as work continues:

21 to 24 March 2025 – Another full M25 closure between Junction 10 and Junction 11 for further bridge demolition work. The same diversions will be in place.

11 to 14 April 2025 – A full A3 closure between Junction 10 and Painshill Roundabout/A245. Details of diversions will be provided closer to the date.
