A man has been arrested after a woman in her 40s was found fatally injured in Lewisham on Sunday morning (April 13), prompting a murder investigation.
Despite their best efforts, the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Just over 10 minutes later, at 6.52am, a 44-year-old man self-presented at Lewisham Police Station. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Known to Each Other
Police have confirmed that the victim and the suspect were known to each other. The woman’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers from the Metropolitan Police.
A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course to determine the precise cause of death.
A police cordon remains in place on Hatfield Close as detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command lead the investigation.
