Man Arrested After Woman Found Fatally Injured in Lewisham
A murder investigation is underway after a woman in her 40s was found fatally injured in Lewisham early on Sunday morning (April 13). Police have arrested a man in connection with the incident.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
At 6.41am, London Ambulance Service alerted police to a seriously injured woman at Hatfield Close, SE14. The London Air Ambulance and other emergency responders rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Just 11 minutes later, at 6.52am, a 44-year-old man voluntarily arrived at Lewisham Police Station. He was immediately arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Victim and Suspect Known to Each Other
Police have confirmed the victim and suspect knew each other. The woman’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist Metropolitan Police officers.
A post-mortem exam will be carried out soon to establish the exact cause of death. Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation, with a police cordon still in place at Hatfield Close.
