Roof Fire Sparks Emergency Response in Tonbridge – UKNIP

A significant fire broke out on the roof of a building in Brook Street, Tonbridge this afternoon (Thursday, 24 April), prompting a major emergency response from Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

The incident was reported at 2.16pm, with five fire engines dispatched to the scene. Firefighters swiftly tackled the flames using main jets and dry powder extinguishers to bring the blaze under control.

The building was evacuated as a precaution, and no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and fire crews remained on scene until around 3.26pm to ensure the area was safe and fully extinguished.

A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said:

“We were called to reports of a roof fire on Brook Street in Tonbridge. Crews used main jets and dry powder to extinguish the flames. Thankfully, there were no injuries.”

Local traffic was briefly affected as emergency services secured the area. Residents and businesses nearby were advised to avoid the vicinity while operations were ongoing.
