Roof Blaze Sparks Major Fire Response in Tonbridge
A fierce fire erupted on a building’s roof in Brook Street, Tonbridge this afternoon (Thursday, 24 April), triggering an urgent response from Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
Five Fire Engines Rush to Scene
The blaze was reported at 2.16pm, with five fire engines dispatched immediately. Firefighters battled the flames using main jets and dry powder extinguishers, quickly bringing the fire under control.
Building Evacuated, No Injuries
The entire building was evacuated as a safety precaution. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Investigation Underway as Traffic Disruptions Hit
The cause of the fire is still unknown. Fire crews stayed on site until around 3.26pm to ensure the area was safe and fully extinguished.
Local traffic was briefly disrupted while emergency services secured the area. Nearby residents and businesses were advised to avoid the scene during operations.
“We were called to reports of a roof fire on Brook Street in Tonbridge. Crews used main jets and dry powder to extinguish the flames. Thankfully, there were no injuries,” said a Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.
