Ten-Pump Fire Erupts at Eat More Plaza in East Ham

A major fire has broken out at Eat More Plaza, located at  High Street North, East Ham, E6, triggering a ten-pump response from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) on the evening of Thursday 29 May 2025.

Emergency services were alerted at  just before 8pm  and the incident has now  formally  been declared  a MAjor Incident. Crews were rapidly deployed to the scene, with firefighters and specialist appliances arriving from across the boroughs.

Public Safety and Evacuation

The fire is believed to have affected multiple commercial units within the Eat More Plaza complex.

Residents and businesses in the immediate area have reportedly been evacuated, and the public is being urged to avoid the area due to heavy smoke and emergency vehicle congestion.

  • Thermal imaging and high-pressure hose lines deployed

  • Traffic diverted around Ron Leighton Way

At this time, there are no confirmed reports of injuries, but London Ambulance Service is understood to be on standby at the scene.

What We Know So Far

London Fire Brigade is currently working to contain the blaze and assess structural risks. Investigations into the cause of the fire will begin once the scene is declared safe.

Station Commander Darren McTernan is attending the scene. He said: “Crews are working hard to bring this fire under control.

“High Street North will remain closed while the incident is ongoing.

“Please avoid the area and we advise people to keep windows and doors closed due to large amounts of smoke.”

Control Officers took the first of 12 calls at 1902 and mobilised crews from East Ham, Plaistow, Stratford and surrounding fire stations to the scene.
