Police have launched an investigation after two 16-year-old boys were stabbed during a violent disturbance involving a large group on Venner Road, Sydenham, late on Tuesday night (15 July).

Emergency services were called just after 11:10pm, with reports of a group fighting in the street in the SE26 area.

Metropolitan Police officers and London Ambulance Service crews rushed to the scene and found two teenagers suffering from stab wounds. They were given immediate treatment at the scene before being taken to major trauma centres.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said:

“We sent ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and a paramedic from our tactical response unit. A trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance was also dispatched. We treated two patients and took them to hospital.”

Police later confirmed that both victims’ injuries were not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

No Arrests Yet as Police Appeal for Witnesses

No arrests have been made at this time. Detectives are continuing their enquiries and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dashcam or doorbell footage to come forward.

A Met Police spokesperson said:

“Police were called at 11:11pm on Tuesday, 15 July, to Venner Road, SE26, following reports of a disturbance. Witnesses reported a large group fighting in the street.

Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and found two 16-year-old boys with stab injuries. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
