Cosplay Chaos Near Anime Convention
The teen, dressed in full costume, was reportedly heading to the London Anime & Gaming Con when officers arrested him following a quick response just after the Chelsea football match.
Passers-by were alarmed by the realistic-looking weapon on display. The boy’s outfit included tactical-style clothing, heightening concerns.
Incident Swiftly Under Control
Witnesses described tense moments as police moved in and recovered the suspected fake firearm. The Met confirmed ongoing enquiries but stressed there is no wider threat to public safety.
Convention Organisers Speak Out
The London Anime & Gaming Con, running from 29 to 31 August 2025, emphasised the incident was unrelated to the event. Organisers reminded all attendees that realistic replica weapons are banned at the convention and must never be carried in public.
