Firefighters and emergency services raced to Aldborough after a helicopter plummeted into a nearby field this afternoon.

Fire teams from Boroughbridge, Knaresborough, Harrogate, and Ripon were swiftly dispatched by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue. They arrived with hose reels to dampen down the crash area and prevent any secondary fires.

North Yorkshire Ambulance Service and police units are en route to the scene. The crash was reported at 1:26pm, near Aldborough, not far from Boroughbridge.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire said: “We received a call at 13:26 reporting a helicopter crashing into a field near Aldborough. Multiple fire engines from the surrounding stations are currently attending and managing the situation.”
