Cyclist left with serious injuries following collision on the A3
Plice are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision involving a van and a cyclist on the A3.
The collision happened between Milford and Thursley at 9.11pm today (April 12) and has left the man who was riding the bike in a serious condition. The van stopped at the scene.
The southbound carriage is currently shut and is likely to be so for several hours while the investigation is carried out.
Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage to get in touch.
A spokesman for Highways England said:
The A3 in Surrey is closed southbound between the A283 at Milford and the A333 at Hindhead due to a serious collision on the southbound carriageway just prior to the Hindhead Tunnel. The northbound is closed to facilitate access by the emergency services to the incident (including an Air Ambulance).
Diversion:
Southbound to follow the route marked with a solid black triangle symbol on local road signs which follows the above route in reverse. take A31 heading west to A325 junction near Farnham. Then take the A325 heading south to re-join the A3 at Longmoor.
