Boy, 10, Killed in Horrific Dog Attack in Caerphilly

Tragedy struck in Pentwyn, Penyrhoel, Caerphilly on Monday afternoon when a 10-year-old boy was fatally attacked by a dog. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene at around 3.55pm after receiving urgent reports of the incident.

Armed Officers Respond, Dog Destroyed

Specially trained firearms officers attended the property alongside Welsh Ambulance Service paramedics, who confirmed the boy had died at the scene. The dangerous dog was shot dead by police. No other people were involved in the attack.

Police Remain on Site

Chief Superintendent Mark Hobrough said the investigation is ongoing and officers will stay at the location as enquiries continue. He reassured locals not to be alarmed by the police presence.

“Officers will be making further enquiries at this time and will remain at the scene as the investigation progresses.

“It is possible that you may see ongoing police activity in the area as part of this work. You may also have seen an increased presence earlier today while officers were attending the incident, but please do not be alarmed.

“If you have concerns or information then please do stop and talk with us.”
