Two hurt after car flips at Eastney Esplanade zebra crossing
Emergency crews rushed to Eastney Esplanade just after 12:20pm Tuesday following a smash involving two vehicles.
Crash causes vehicle to overturn at busy crossing
The incident happened near the Coffee Cup café when a car stopped at a zebra crossing was rear-ended by the vehicle behind it. The second car then flipped onto its side.
Firefighters and paramedics rescue injured drivers
Southsea Firefighters, South Central Ambulance Service paramedics, and Hampshire Road Policing Unit arrived swiftly. They worked together to free both occupants trapped inside the overturned car. Both suffered suspected spinal injuries.
Victims rushed to hospital, road remains closed
After on-scene treatment, the injured were taken to hospital by ambulance. Police are now urging motorists to steer clear of Eastney Esplanade while recovery teams clear the wreckage and reopen the road.
