A man in his 40s was discovered badly injured in the car park of the Iceland store on Furtherwick Road, Canvey Island, just before 1:45 a.m. on Sunday.

Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood says the investigation is making good progress but stressed there’s no ongoing threat to the public. Authorities have set up a special portal to gather vital info from anyone with clues.

Detectives Urge Witnesses to Speak Up

“We’ve already heard from a number of witnesses and people with valuable information, and I want to thank them for coming forward,” said Det Ch Insp Wood.

“However, if you saw anything or know more about the incident and haven’t contacted us yet, please do so.”

Incident Linked to The Haystack Pub

Det Ch Insp Wood believes those involved were inside The Haystack pub earlier that evening. He urged locals and pub-goers to come forward.

“I believe someone in the pub or a nearby resident knows exactly who is responsible. This appears to be a targeted attack and poses no risk to the general public.”
