Emergency crews scrambled to Westminster’s St James’ area yesterday after a serious collision between a double-decker bus and a pedestrian.

A huge cordon sealed off the busy junction of Waterloo Place and Pall Mall, trapping a 159 bus amid a sea of flashing lights and sirens.
Firefighters raced to free the injured pedestrian while paramedics, including London’s Air Ambulance, joined the life-saving effort.
Rapid Response Saves Lives
- London Fire Brigade got three urgent calls from 10.31am.
- Two fire engines and a Fire Rescue Unit from Lambeth and Euston stations were on scene swiftly.
- Firefighters pulled the pedestrian clear before paramedics took over treatment.
“We sent ambulance crews, a cycle paramedic, a fast response car, and an incident response officer. London’s Air Ambulance also attended,” a London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said. “The patient was treated at the scene and rushed by road to a major trauma centre.”
Investigation Underway as Traffic Chaos Mounts
The man’s current condition is unknown. Police continue probing the crash that has caused massive disruption in central London, snarling traffic and sparking major delays.
