A 14-year-old boy named Josh has died after being struck by a train near Burton Joyce, close to Nottingham. The fatal incident happened shortly after 7pm on Wednesday by the village’s railway station. Emergency crews rushed to the scene but were unable to save him.

Detectives say the death is not being treated as suspicious. An inquest is expected to look into the circumstances. Local MP Michael Payne expressed his grief:
