A 42-year-old man has been arrested after a madcap M4 chase ended in a flipped Range Rover and a desperate dash from the crash scene.
Range Rover Flip Triggers High-Speed Police Hunt
Last night at around 9pm, chaos erupted on the M4 when a Range Rover Evoque was spotted tearing dangerously between Membury Services and Junction 15. The drama reached a peak when the SUV smashed into another car and flipped onto its roof.
The driver then fled on foot, abandoning the wreck. Witnesses spotted a man strolling along the hard shoulder towards Junction 15, sparking a swift police response.
Police Dog Conan Sniffs Out the Fugitive
Wiltshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit, Armed Response Team, and the dog squad – led by the famous Police Dog Conan – launched a rapid manhunt. The suspect was caught and hit with multiple charges including drink driving, drug driving, driving while disqualified, failing to stop after a crash, and even pedestrian offences on the motorway.
He was taken to hospital as a precaution, then released on police bail as the investigation continues.
Operation Limit Cracks Down on Drink & Drug Drivers
This arrest comes amid Operation Limit, Wiltshire’s month-long crackdown on drink and drug driving.
Police issued a stark warning: “Drink or drug driving won’t be tolerated.” The consequences are harsh:

- Automatic driving ban of at least one year (three years for repeat offenders within 10 years)
