64-Year-Old Jailed for Shocking Historic Rape at Motorway Service Station
A 64-year-old man has been slammed with a four-year jail sentence for a brutal rape that rocked Horsham decades ago.
Repeated Attacks at Motorway Toilet
Oslen Kelman, 64, from Lambert Road, Lambeth, London, was found guilty of raping a woman in her 50s during the early 1990s. The shocking assault happened in a motorway service station toilet – one of several attacks he carried out over time on the same victim.
Justice Only Comes After Hung Jury
Kelman’s first trial in March 2025 ended in a hung jury with no verdict. But the retrial at Lewes Crown Court saw him convicted for the rape at the motorway services. He was cleared of two other charges. On 30 January, the judge handed down a four-year prison sentence.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
Detective Constable Gemma Nickols said: “Thanks to her strength, Kelman is now rightly behind bars having faced justice. Our message to other victims of sexual offences, no matter how long ago, is to please report to Sussex Police. We will support you, we will investigate, and we will do all we can to get the justice you deserve.”
