A man is in custody after a dramatic early-morning pursuit in Wiltshire ended with him being caught by a police dog.
Mercedes Flees From Police, Crashes Into Tree
At around 2.35am on 10 March, officers spotted a suspicious Mercedes C220 cruising along Cricklade Road. The car sped off when it noticed the marked police vehicle, sparking a short but intense chase.
The Mercedes careered into an alley near St Marks Recreation Ground before smashing into a tree. The 25-year-old driver then fled on foot.
Police Dog Vagus Holds Suspect at ‘Stand-Off’
Police quickly deployed PD Vagus, the canine unit, to track down the suspect. Using a ‘stand-off’ manoeuvre, Vagus restrained the man without needing to bite.
