Thomas Mesai Siyoum, 24, from Heath Crescent, Coventry, appeared at Oxford Crown Court on March 9, 2026. He’s accused of attacking a man on July 20, 2025, at student accommodation on James Wolfe Road.

Victim is New Asylum Seeker and University Cleaner

The victim, Abubaker Kadir, had only recently arrived in the UK as an asylum seeker in March 2025. He worked as a cleaner at the university halls before the stabbing.

Serious Charges Amid Denial

Siyoum denies the most serious charge of section 18 wounding with intent, which relates to grievous bodily harm. Yet, he admits to the lesser charge of section 20 unlawful wounding and possessing a knife in a public place.
