A convicted murderer behind bars for killing his sister-in-law has landed himself extra time after violently attacking a prison officer.
Attack at HMP Whitemoor
Moustapha Dia, 28, launched the shocking assault at around 2pm on 19 October 2024 inside HMP Whitemoor near March. As a prison officer was locking doors on the wing, Dia whispered something – then ambushed him.
He slammed the officer into a headlock and viciously stabbed him in the head, face, and neck with a makeshift plastic knife.
The violent onslaught only ended when fellow officers rushed in to restrain and disarm Dia.
Victim Hospitalised with Serious Injuries
The injured prison worker was rushed to Peterborough City Hospital. There, he was treated for a concussion alongside multiple cuts and lacerations to his face and neck.
Extra Time Added to Life Sentence
At Huntingdon Law Courts in January, Dia denied the charges but was found guilty of possession of an offensive weapon and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
On Thursday, 12 March, the court handed him an additional four years on top of his life sentence for murder.
