Convicted Killer Gets Extra Jail Time After Brutal Prison Attack
A convicted murderer has landed himself more years behind bars after launching a savage attack on a prison officer at HMP Whitemoor.
Shocking Assault Inside Maximum Security Prison
Moustapha Dia, 28, struck out around 2pm on 19 October 2024 at HMP Whitemoor near March. While a prison officer was locking up a wing, Dia whispered to him – then suddenly attacked.
He threw the officer into a headlock and repeatedly stabbed him in the head, face, and neck using a homemade plastic knife.
The brutal assault only stopped when other officers rushed in to tackle and disarm Dia.
Officer Hospitalised with Serious Injuries
The victim was rushed to Peterborough City Hospital, where he was treated for a concussion and suffered multiple cuts and deep lacerations to his face and neck.
Dia Slapped with Four More Years on Life Sentence
Dia denied the charges when he appeared at Huntingdon Law Courts in January but was found guilty of possessing an offensive weapon and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
On Thursday, 12 March, the court handed him an extra four years to add to his life sentence for murdering his sister-in-law.
