22 Months Behind Bars for Violent Outburst

A 30-year-old Oxford man, Francis Nala-Hartley, was handed a 22-month prison sentence at Oxford Crown Court on March 10, 2026. The violent episode happened in the early hours of July 6, 2024. Under the influence of cocaine and alcohol, Nala-Hartley showed up at his ex-partner’s house.

Attack Fueled By Jealousy and Drugs

When his ex didn’t answer the door, Nala-Hartley kicked it in. He then punched her mother in the face after wrongly accusing her of having an affair. The assault left the woman with bruises and a small scratch. Police found cocaine on him at the scene and noted telltale signs: white powder under his nose and glazed eyes.

Criminal History and Court Verdict

  • Nala-Hartley claims no memory of the attack.
  • He was convicted in absentia for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
  • He also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to police bail twice.
  • His record is a long one, with 19 convictions for 33 offences, including breaching a suspended sentence for carrying a baseball bat in 2023.
  • The court noted his prior convictions and drug abuse as aggravating factors in the sentencing.
