Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters battled a fierce blaze on Hale End Road, Walthamstow. The fire broke out in a terraced house, setting alight parts of the ground floor, first floor, and most of the roof.
Neighbours’ Roofs Also Caught Fire
Flames didn’t stop there – small sections of the roofs of two neighbouring houses also caught fire. The London Fire Brigade deployed one of their mighty 32-metre turntable ladders as a water tower, attacking the flames from above.
Rapid Response and Investigation Underway
The fire control centre took the first of 13 emergency calls at 10:19am. Fire crews rushed from Walthamstow, Woodford, Leyton, and nearby stations. The blaze was finally under control by 1:41pm. Authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire.
