A vile predator convicted of stalking, strangling, and raping a woman had the audacity to ask if he could call his mum and dad when cops arrested him.
Terrifying Attack and Threats
Jack-Leland Webster, previously known as Jack Malone, pinned his victim at her flat, strangled her, and threatened, “Don’t make me kill you. If you do, I’ll have to kill myself so we can be dead together.” He then brutally sexually assaulted her.
Stalking Through Hundreds of Fake Accounts
Manchester Crown Court heard Webster stalked his victim relentlessly, even while on bail. He created hundreds of fake social media accounts to follow and harass her, her friends, and family.
- At one point, over 100 accounts began following the victim in seconds.
- Webster pretended to be her ex to send fake messages and test her loyalty.
- He broke bail conditions repeatedly by continuing his digital torment.
Cold and Cocky During Arrest and Interviews
When police arrived at Webster’s flat in Manchester, he looked shocked. He then asked: “Can I phone my mum and dad please?” and said he wanted to tell his mum, despite not sharing her surname. During interviews, Webster denied all charges. Greater Manchester Police revealed he showed “no remorse” and treated the whole investigation like a game. He even mocked officers, telling one to “pick me up from KFC” and “catch me if you can.” For a second interview, he turned up with a book on debating — as if trying to outsmart the cops.
Hardened Sentence for Dangerous Offender
Webster was handed a hefty jail term of nine years and five months. He also faces an indefinite restraining order.
“Jack-Leland Webster is a very dangerous individual who breached bail numerous times,” said Detective Constable Lucy Hatton. “Thanks to the brave victim for coming forward. We take stalking, rape, and sexual assault seriously and will hunt down offenders and bring them to justice.”
