A prolific shoplifter who repeatedly stole food and alcohol has been banned from entering any retail premises in Medway for the next three years.

Rosie Ripley, 36, was handed a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after being charged with five counts of theft committed during April and May 2026.

Kent Police said Ripley repeatedly entered shops, filled baskets with goods and walked out without attempting to pay.

On 4 May, she targeted B&M in Chatham three times in a single morning, stealing goods during each visit.

The following day she travelled to Springfield Supermarket in Maidstone, where she stole three bottles of wine before fleeing.

Ripley went on to target the same supermarket three times over a two-day period, each time taking bottles of wine without paying.

She appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 12 August, where a three-year CBO was imposed.

Under the order, Ripley is prohibited from entering any retail premises anywhere in Medway.

She is also banned from entering any shop in Kent owned, operated or managed by Morrisons, Poundland, B&M Retail, Co-op, Aldi, Sainsbury’s, Iceland or Budgens.

The restrictions will remain in force until August 2029.

PC Matt Hoffmeister said: “We worked closely with store staff to gather evidence and secure a long-term Criminal Behaviour Order with stringent conditions.

“It sends a clear message that persistent shoplifting will not be tolerated. We will continue to work closely with retailers and the courts to secure orders like this and protect businesses from repeat offenders.”
