Jailed Dad Chased Burglars, Now Fans Raise £100K For Him

Adam White’s daring bid to stop burglars was featured this week on Channel 4’s 24 Hours in Police Custody. The Leighton Buzzard dad of two confronted two thieves who tried to steal a motorcycle from his home. What followed was a high-speed chase with a shocking twist.

High-Speed Hunt Ends in Disaster

Back in 2019, White spotted the burglars fleeing with his stolen bike. He jumped into his car and gave chase. But the chase took a nasty turn when White lost control on a sharp bend, crashing into the stolen motorcycle. The two burglars were seriously injured.

White admitted in the documentary: “I didn’t realise how sharp the bend was until I collided with the motorcycle.”

Bodycam footage from that night shows White’s arrest. He’s heard asking, “Am I in trouble? Am I going to prison for this?”

Dad Gets 22 Months — Burglar Scum Walk Free

Earlier this year, White was sentenced to 22 months in prison for causing serious injury by dangerous driving at Luton Crown Court. Meanwhile, the burglars, Taylor Benford and Ryan Paul, both 25, with prior convictions for theft, drug dealing, and reckless driving, received just 200 hours of community service each — no jail time.

Public Outcry Sparks Massive Fundraiser

Outraged at the unfairness, thousands have rallied behind White. His wife set up a GoFundMe page that’s exploded with support — over 5,000 donations pouring in, raising an incredible £100,000 so far.

“He was imprisoned for 22 months for knocking them off their STOLEN bike, and they received ZERO prison time,” says the fundraiser. “He blew £50,000 of his life savings. Let’s return it to him!!”

White and his wife Lindsay have publicly thanked everyone for their heartfelt support. On Twitter, White said:

“Thank you to everyone for your kind words and heartfelt sympathy. It’s been an awful lot to take in. Seeing this on TV was hard. The messages have been amazing and very emotional. I honestly can’t believe the public is behind me.”

“Everyone’s support is incredible. My wife told me about the Go Fund Me page, and it truly breaks my heart. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, everyone; I’m at a loss for words.”
