Upton Brothers Sentenced for Series of Violent Attacks in Wisbech

In a disturbing turn of events, brothers Riley and Bricy Upton, aged 24 and 21 respectively, have been sentenced to six years in prison for a series of violent attacks that left three men hospitalised. The incidents occurred in Wisbech, with the final judgment delivered at Peterborough Crown Court on January 26.
The first assault took place on October 18 last year at a children’s play centre on Fen Road. Staff members intervened when the brothers displayed aggressive behaviour , but the situation escalated into a physical altercation. One employee suffered gashes to the head and bruised ribs as a result.
A more severe attack unfolded on November 4 in Market Square when the brothers approached and assaulted a man unprovoked. The victim endured kicks and punches, resulting in facial bruising, chipped teeth, and stitches to the eye socket.
Following this assault, the Upton brothers, along with a group of others, purchased alcohol from a Lynn Road fuel station. In a brutal assault, they repeatedly punched, kicked, and stamped on a man in the group, causing a fractured jaw and severe cuts and bruising.
The arrests were made the following day, and both brothers were charged with two counts of GBH with intent, assault by beating, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Pleas of guilt were entered, leading to their sentencing on Friday, January 26.
Detective Sergeant Lee Womack expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “These attacks were fuelled by a combination of alcohol and the brothers’ seemingly blasé attitude to violence. I am pleased they will both be behind bars for a good stretch – Wisbech will be a safer place without them on the streets.”
