Drink-Driver Jailed for Murder After Fatal Crash Near Huntingdon
Asadul Karim, 31, crashed his silver Mercedes into a Honda Civic on the A141 near Huntingdon at around 11.30pm on 12 July 2021. The impact was deadly.
Mark Rulman, 36, who was waiting at a red light in his Honda, died instantly.
Drunk and Banned: Karim’s Deadly Decision
Tests revealed Karim blew 103 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath — nearly three times the legal limit of 35. He was also disqualified from driving and had no insurance.
Karim, from Montrose Gardens, Mitcham, London, admitted causing death by dangerous driving while disqualified and uninsured.
On 14 July, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison at Peterborough Crown Court.
Police Slam Selfish Drink-Driver
“Yet another life is lost due to the selfish actions of a drink-driver,” said Detective Sergeant Craig Wheeler from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit. “Karim knew he had consumed alcohol but chose to drive regardless, putting everyone at risk. Drink driving ruins lives.”
