Drug Dealer Busted in Tesco Coffee Caper
Police on patrol in Chesterton, Cambridge, clocked Fernando Tela cruising suspiciously on 13 January. Thinking he was up to no good, officers switched on their blue lights and gave chase.
Abandoned Car and the Coffee Cover-Up
Tela, 23, from Nelson Road, Poole, slammed the brakes outside Tesco, ditched his car with the keys still in the ignition, and made a beeline for the shop, clutching a coffee cup like it was his getaway weapon.
Coffee Cup Full of Cocaine
Inside Tesco, the dealer tried to pay for his drink—but the coppers weren’t fooled. They asked to check his cup and found 20 bags of cocaine hidden inside.
Two Years Behind Bars
At Peterborough Crown Court on 13 March, Tela copped to possession with intent to supply class A drugs and was slapped with a two-year prison sentence.
PC Nicola Pike said: “There is no place for people who come to Cambridgeshire to deal drugs. They bring misery and associated crime to our city and will be arrested and put before the courts.”
