Taxi Driver Stabbed in Brutal Cambridge Attack
Uyi Orobor, 22, and an accomplice hailed a parked taxi in Arbury Court, Cambridge, around 8.15pm on 14 January last year. Despite another passenger already inside, they jumped in.
Driver Attacked After Asking Them to Leave
The driver protested and stepped out. That’s when Orobor launched a violent assault, kicking and punching the man until he fell to the ground.
As the victim tried to escape, Orobor yanked him back by his jumper and stabbed him once in the shoulder. The driver managed to flee and called the police from a nearby chip shop.
Orobor Jailed Over Knife Attack
Orobor and his accomplice then bolted towards Arbury Road. The injured driver was treated in hospital. Thankfully, his wound was not life-threatening. The passenger was unhurt and fled before police arrived.
Orobor was arrested on February 11 last year after an unrelated incident, while police continue to hunt his accomplice.
On Thursday 16 March, at Peterborough Crown Court, Orobor, from Rochdale Road, Oldham, Greater Manchester, was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm.
DC Alex Galan-Tarachiu said: “This was a shocking attack on a taxi driver who was just going about his daily business. Orobor showed no respect for him and used a grossly disproportionate level of violence.”
