Boxing Day Horror: Drunk Neighbour Stabs Man Leaving Him Seriously Injured
Attack on Peterborough Street
Aitzaz Sadiq, 36, landed behind his neighbour on Boxing Day and plunged a knife into him, causing life-altering injuries. The victim, a man in his 20s, said Sadiq appeared drunk when he threatened him around 10pm on Bamber Street, Peterborough.
Brutal Assault Follows Chasing Victim
The victim tried to get away, heading towards Cromwell Road. But Sadiq followed and struck from behind. He punched the man in the back of the head, making him fall, then stabbed him in the hand and slashed his neck.
Victim Flees, Attacker Smashes Windows
The injured man stumbled home and called for help. Moments later, Sadiq turned up, shouted abuse, and smashed a front window before police were called and he was arrested.
Justice Served at Peterborough Crown Court
The victim needed surgery to repair tendon damage in his hand, which now limits movement and affects his ability to work. Sadiq, from Cromwell Road, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent, possession of a knife in public, and criminal damage.
On Friday 7 July, he was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years behind bars.
“This was a vicious, unprovoked attack that has left the victim with life-changing injuries,” said DC Andrew Donaldson. “The damage caused to his hand restricts his movement and therefore impacts on his ability to do tasks and work. I’m pleased Sadiq has now appeared in court and faced justice.”
